Minutes of the
Global Independent Baptist Fellowship

1. The Business meeting was called to order by Moderator Frank Wood.

2. Kevin Folger opened the meeting in prayer.

3. The Minutes of the GIBF meeting at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Phoenix, Arizona was presented and approved.

  • Motion to Accept: Bruce Turner
  • Second by Troy Dorrell
  • The Vote was unanimous.

4. Nominations for the Global Independent Baptist Missions board of advisors were made.

Nominees were: Kerry Nance and Peter Monteoro.

Nominations ceased.

Motion to accept the nominees were made by Kevin Folger

Second: Terry Williams

Since these two men were the only nominations there is no need of a vote.

6. Brother Dave Lydick, editor of the Baptist Times gave a very good report:

  • There is an increase in Subscriptions
  • There is an increase in paid subscriptions
  • There is an increase in the monthly support.
  • Example: Support the Baptist Times at $40.00 monthly and you will receive a bundle of 25 papers.
  • Requested prayer for Brother Doug Taylor battling leukemia.

7. Nominations for the officers of the GIBF are to be received in the February meeting.

8. Dick Webster gave a report concerning the Global Independent Baptist Missions.

The GIBM offices from the start have been located in Liberty Baptist Church and would like to move into an office suite. Appropriate office space has been located for $950.00 monthly. This presents a need of $10,000. per year to be able to rent the office space.

Thus the total need is $20,000.00 yearly. $10,000.00 for the office suite and $10,000.00 for office operations.

Brother Webster gave the Fellowship pastors the opportunity to make a pledge of $250.00 or more in support to achieve the goal. For those giving $250.00 or more, they would receive a very nice golf shirt.

When the promotion was totally complete a total of $20,000.00 was raised, thus the project will go forward.

Brother Lewis has found insurance that will insure a missionary family individually.

9. College Report:

Heartland BBC: Brother Jeff Copes gave a report. He expressed thanks for students and support. Also the site preparation under way and ready for the new building to get under construction.

Florida Baptist College: Brother Turner reports that they had their first graduation.
