Minutes of the
Global Independent Baptist Fellowship

May 13, 2003
Heartland Baptist Bible College Campus

The meeting was called to order by Moderator Dick Webster. Bro. Webster called on Pastor Al Jones of the Central Baptist Church of Lewisville, Texas. The meeting began at 3:00 pm.

The notes from the previous meeting were not available by cause of the secretary.

Bro. Webster informed the group that guidelines were being drafted about churches hosting GIBF meetings. It would be presented to the fellowship in the September meeting 2003. There will be a report of the meeting in the Global Baptist Times of the meeting. In September it will also be presented that one of the scheduled meetings be designated as the Global Baptist Times meeting.

Bro. Farinella gave a report of the Global Baptist Times. The latest issue was handed out. A report was given on the health of Mrs. Farinella. She is still battling the cancer and he asked us to continue to pray. He opened the floor for questions. Bro. Robert Lewis asked Bro. Farinella what would help him most in producing the paper? Bro. Farinella stated that he is bogged down with the logistics of the paper and could use part time help. His staff has been doing all of this up to this point. There is no money at this point to pay for help. All that comes in is going to produce the paper. Bro. Lewis further asked about how much weekly time is needed for the part time staff. The answer is about 10 hours a week. Bro. Lewis suggested that we raise $100 a week to pay for this need. Bro. Farinella reminded us that this current issue has not yet been paid for. The following men made these promises to cover this staffing need:

The total raise was $400 a month.

Bro. Webster gave a report on the Missions Agency of the GIBF. Presently they are helping 4 missionaries. (These are not BBF missionaries coming over.) The only negative was that the insurance presented at the last meeting is not applicable. Currently Bro. Webster is working on another program. The only financial burden at this point is the postage. Help with the postage would be appreciated. In September Bro. Webster is seeking 5 men to be missions directors to help with the officers. It would be best if these 5 were from various parts of the country. He will need nominations from the floor in September. (There will not be any special meetings and travel required.) The missionaries will be listed in the Global Baptist Times and on the GIBF Website.

Bro. Lewis reported he has a list of people who are on the website and the email list.

The following items were mentioned. There is a church in Ozark, Missouri and needs a pastor. An Ohio branch of the GIBF is starting at the North Columbus Baptist Church on September 27th. In October, a regional GIBF meeting is starting in the New England area. The men were reminded to submit such information to the Global Baptist Times.

A plea was made for the May offering cards to be filled out. Bro. Monette promoted the September 2003 GIBF meeting to be held at his church September 15, 16 & 17. The theme will be "Make Full Proof of Thy Ministry." He encouraged the men to make motel reservations ahead of time in order to get the best prices. The motels he recommended are the Quality and Comfort. He handed out brochures. In order to cross the border into Canada you will need your passport or both your driver's license and birth certificate. If you need any information the phone line is free.

The motion to end the meeting was made by Robert Stevens. The second was given. It was unanimous. Bro. Monette dismissed in prayer at 3:31 pm.

Respectfully submitted by:

Pastor Marshall P. Stevens
Secretary of G.I.B.F.
